Heather Ingold

Senior Program Officer

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria

Heather Ingold, MPH, lives in Geneva, Switzerland, where she works as a senior program officer for the High Impact Asia Department at the Global Fund. Her responsibilities include assisting with the management of the Indonesia portfolio, which consists of 10 active grants totaling around $250 million for HIV, tuberculosis (TB), malaria, and health systems strengthening.

Mrs. Ingold travels to Indonesia frequently to meet with country stakeholders and to discuss program implementation. During these trips, she often does site visits to see needle exchange and harm reduction programs, sexually transmitted infection and voluntary counseling and testing centers in local health clinics, TB and multidrug-resistant-TB treatment wards, and remote areas of Indonesia for the malaria program. She also participates in meetings with key partners such as WHO, UNAIDS, Stop TB, Roll Back Malaria, and USAID.

Through Global Fund, Mrs. Ingold has also traveled to Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Seeing hard evidence that we are making a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria, and meeting people from other countries are among the most rewarding parts of her job.

My MPH gave me the program management skills, epidemiological background, and policy development knowledge that I use in my day-to-day work. Rollins also gave me a big-picture view that's been crucial for international work. It's important that I work well with people from different cultures who have different ways of getting things done. The school's international flair and vibrant atmosphere prepared me well for my career as a public health professional.
