Emory Rollins School of Public Health

Freddie Yang obtained his master's degree from the University of Chicago where he also completed two research assistantships in Labor Economics and Econometrics. Prior to graduate school, Freddie spent 6 years as a software engineer at Epic Systems Corporation and the Institute for Population and Precision Health at UChicago. Freddie earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Penn State in 2014.

Freddie's primary research interests are Health Economics and the Industrial Organization of the healthcare market. For his PhD, he plans to focus on studying how innovations in health technology affect the bargaining dynamics among healthcare market participants. Freddie's secondary research interest is mental health. In particular, he hopes to identify better alternatives to assess mental health problems than relying on self-reported data.
