U.S. / Latin America: Dr. Sarnat was involved in a study assessing the impacts of traffic-related air pollution on pediatric asthma along the United States - Mexico border. Currently there is no funding to continue this research however, Dr. Sarnat and her team may apply for additional funding in the future.

Dr. Sarnat encourages students to get involved in her research and mentors students continuously. For example, students at various levels were involved in a study assessing the impacts of traffic-related air pollution on pediatric asthma along the United States - Mexico border including a University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) doctoral student, several UTEP undergraduate students that assisted with field work and data entry, and an Rollins School of Public Health masters student who conducted analyses on study data for her thesis.
