Past Work in Hispanic/Latino Health:
U.S.: Dr. DiClemente has worked with Latino populations through his research testing an intervention to reduce HIV risk in Miami, Florida.
Latin America: Dr. DiClemente has conducted survey research in South America and Panama related to HIV risk. In addition, he has conducted a trial related to HIV risk in St. Maarten. Dr. DiClemente regularly visits the University of Spain, Granada, to collaborate with faculty. These projects include adapting his SiHLE HIV risk-reduction intervention, identified by the CDC as a Tier 1 "evidence-based intervention", for Spanish girls and designing, implementing and analyzing data from HIV risk surveys of youth in South America.
Opportunities for Students
Dr. DiClemente encourages students to get involved in faculty related research and has mentored various graduate students serving as his research assistants. In the past, Dr. DiClemente has advised students doing practicums in Central America.
