Jhanel  Chew

Doctoral Stud

Jhanel Chew is a global environmental health mixed methods researcher, with a background in environmental engineering. Her dissertation research is focused on the top three contributors of morbidity and mortality of children under five globally (acute respiratory infections, diarrheal disease, and malaria) and their interactions with each other and various environmental interventions. She is also more broadly interested in gender equity work and gender transformative approaches in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in low- and middle-income countries. Jhanel is currently the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion PhD co-chair for the Department of Environmental Health.
