Rollins Scholarship Recipients

RSPH Scholarship Fund
This fund provides scholarship support to our most outstanding MPH and MSPH students.

Dean's Council Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding MPH or MSPH applicant.

Applebaum-Peabody Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for MPH or PhD students interested in chronic disease prevention and physical activity promotion.  Students selected will work in conjunction with the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center.

Boisfeuillet Jones Scholarship
Established by the family of Boisfeuillet Jones, Sr., the scholarship provides support for an outstanding student to pursue an MPH or MSPH degree.

Cari J. Clark Global Scholarship
Established by Cari J. Clark, ScD, to provide support for outstanding international students pursuing their MPH.

James W. Curran Scholarship Fund
Established in 2015 to celebrate Dean James W. Curran's twentieth anniversary as dean of the Rollins School of Public Health, the James W. Curran Scholarships will be awarded to the school's most outstanding applicants.

Join P. Cioffi PhD and Charles P. Freitas, Jr. Scholarship
Established by Joan Penrose Cioffi, PhD for outstanding MPH students who have a demonstrated interest in humanitarian response or public health services for displaced populations.

J. Rex Fuqua Scholarship
Established by a gift from the J.B. Fuqua Foundation, Inc. and the Relean Foundation, Inc, to provide support to Rollins students who have demonstrated interest in mental health careers.

Jacob R. Dee Scholarship
Established by Kim Del Guercio 10PH and Brian Braine Sperry, in memory of Jacob R. Dee MPH. This fund will be used to provide support to outstanding MPH or MSPH students.

Golson Family Scholarship
Established by Alisa Long Golson 98PH and Brian P. Golson, to support Rollins students in the Health Policy and Management Department.

Hahn-Swanson Family Scholarship
The Hahn-Swanson Family Scholarship will provide scholarships to Rollins students with a preference for MPH students who have a demonstrated capacity for leadership in, and service to, public health.

Charles T. and Sue K. Hardman Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an MPH or MSPH student on the basis of outstanding promise.

Hinman-Carlson Family Scholarship
Established by Lisa M. Carlson 93PH and Johanna M. Hinman 98PH, along with their parents, Alan R. and Lucy H. Hinman and Eileen M. Gleman.

Hogue/Hargraves MCH Internship
Established by Carol J.R. Hougue, PhD, and L. Lynn Hogue, PhD, to support an Atlanta based Field experience for a Rollins student in the Maternal and Child Health concentration.

Lawrence P. and Ann Estes Klamon Scholarship Fund
This fund will be used as an incentive to attract highly qualified candidates to Rollins.

Mary Anne Lanier Scholarship
This fund supports students who demonstrate an interest in women's and children's health.

Sallie B. Lee Scholarship
Established by Robert J. Freeman to honor his aunt, who cared deeply about the environment, education and children, the Sallie B. Lee Scholarship provides support for an outstanding student to pursue an MPH or MSPH degree.

Richard Letz Fund for Dissertation Research in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education
This fund honors the late Richard Letz, Rollins professor and former chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education (BSHE). It goes to support BSHE doctoral students as they complete their dissertation research.

Reynaldo Martorell Scholarship Fund
Dr. Carlos del Rio, chair of the Hubert Department of Global Health, established this fund in honor of former department chair Reynaldo Martorell. This scholarship honors Hispanic students at the Rollins School of Public Health. 

Ansley-Miller Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a promising MPH or MSPH student whose studies and career will result in the improvement of the quality of life among the populations in developing parts of the world.

Dr. Kathleen R. Miner Scholarship for Public Health Excellence
Established to honor Dr. Kathy Miner's lifelong dedication to public health education and practice, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding second year student pursuing an MPH at Rollins. 

Marian Woodward Ottley Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a promising MPH or MSPH student with exceptional credentials.

Patel Naik Family Scholarship in Biostatistics
Established by Rajan Sharad Patel and Kinnery Naik Patel in honor of their parents, this scholarship supports outstanding PhD students or outstanding second year MPH students in Biostatistics, with a preference for those interested in pursuing a PhD.

Nalini and Ravi Saligram Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for MPH or PhD students who have a demonstrated interest in diabetes prevention research in India.

David J. Sencer, MD, MPH Scholarship Fund
Created with the generous support of his family, this fund honors the career of Dr. David J. Sencer and provides scholarship support for mid-career state and local public health department professionals seeking an MPH. Recipients of this scholarship exemplify leadership and outstanding service in their field.

Established by Virginia Bales Harris, 71C 77PH, in honor of her parents, this scholarship supports a Rollins student planning a career in public service.

Charles C. Shepard Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Dr. Charles Shepard, a distinguished scientist and early, enthusiastic supporter of the MPH program at Emory. This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding applicant to the Department of Epidemiology.

Mark Steinhoff, MD Scholarship
Provides support to outstanding students at Rollins.

Irene K. Woodruff Scholarship
This fund provides scholarship support to our most outstanding MPH and MSPH students.

Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship
This fund provides scholarship support to our most outstanding MPH and MSPH students.

Emory Woman’s Club Scholarship
Established in 1998, the Emory Woman's Club Scholarship provides support to a female student focusing on women's health who demonstrates both financial need and merit in her second year of MPH or MSPH study.

William Randolph Hearst Scholarship Fund
The William Randolph Hearst Scholarship provides financial support to Executive MPH candidates whose professions focus on providing public health services in rural communities throughout the Southeast.

M.B. Seretean Scholarship Fund
Established by M. B. Seretean, who was committed to improving the health and well-being of others, the M. B. Seretean Scholarship Fund provides support for an outstanding student, with preference given to one whose focus is nutrition, health and/or health education.

Michael H. Kutner Fund for Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
This fund supports outstanding PhD candidates in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.

Livingston Scholars Fund
Established by the Livingston Foundation, Inc., the Livingston Scholars Fund recognizes the outstanding achievements of a doctoral student at the Rollins School of Public Health.

Patel Naik Family Scholarship in Biostatistics
Established by Rajan Sharad Patel and Kinnery Naik Patel in honor of their parents, this scholarship supports outstanding PhD students or outstanding second year MPH students in Biostatistics, with a preference for those interested in pursuing a PhD.

Doris W. and John E. McGowan, Sr., MD Scholarship
Established to honor the parents of Dr. John McGowan, longtime director of the MD/MPH program at Emory University, this scholarship is awarded to an exemplary candidate for the MD/MPH dual degree.

Thomas F. Sellers, Jr, Scholarship Fund
Honoring Dr. Thomas Sellers, this fund provides scholarship support for students in the MD/MPH dual degree program. Dr. Sellers, former chair of the Department of Community Health in the Emory School of Medicine, helped pave the way for the establishment of the master of community health program—forerunner of the MPH program at Emory.

Delta Omega Domestic Field Experience
The Phi chapter of Delta Omega at Rollins—an honorary society for graduate studies in public health—established this fund to provide support for students looking to conduct research and gain practical experience working in underserved communities across the United States.

Anne E. and William A. Foege Global Health Fund
Named in honor of the parents of renowned epidemiologist and former CDC director William H. Foege, this fund provides financial support for students seeking to pursue field research in an underserved international setting.

Stan and Dottie Foster Fund
Established by Stan Foster, a longtime faculty member of the Hubert Department of Global Health, this fund provides financial support for Rollins students to pursue research through the Global Field Experience program.

Eugene J. Gangarosa Scholarship
Established by Dr. Eugene Gangarosa, one of Rollins’ founding fathers, this fund provides financial support for students seeking field experience in a culture different than their own. Because of Dr. Gangarosa's lifelong dedication to water and sanitation, preference is given to students with projects in this field.

O.C. Hubert Fellowships in International Health
With a generous gift from the Hubert Foundation, Richard Hubert established this fund in honor of his father, O.C. Hubert. Fellowships provide support for Rollins students to pursue research in an international setting. 

Deborah A. McFarland Fund for Global Field Experience
Established in honor of Dr. Deborah McFarland, professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health and director of the Global Field Experience program, this fund provides financial support for students seeking to pursue field research in an international setting.

Carol and Carlos Martel Scholarship Fund
This fund provides financial support for Rollins students to complete a global field experience in Latin America.

Global Elimination of Maternal Mortality from Abortion
The Global Elimination of Maternal Mortality from Abortion (GEMMA) supports student scholarship in the areas of women's health and abortion. GEMMA-funded work has included student research practica and the dissemination of research findings related to maternal mortality from abortion.

Rollins Earn and Learn Fund
This fund provides MPH and MSPH students with opportunities to gain applied public health experience primarily in nonprofit organizations, including the CDC, CARE, the Carter Center, Emory-affiliated programs, and state and local government agencies.
