Elle Chumlongluk (President)                         

My name is Elle Chumlongluk (she/her/hers) I am from Jupiter, FL and I am in the Behavioral, Social, Health Education Sciences Department with a Certificate in Infectious Disease Epidemiology. My research interests include infectious disease, social determinants of health, behavioral health and vaccine-preventable diseases/immunization programs. My responsibilities as President include ensuring that GPHA activities meet university policies, provide direction in achieving the organization’s goals and mission, and act as a point of contact for the organization.

 

 

Karina Gonzalez (Co-Logistics Coordinator)                     

Hi, my name is Karina Gonzalez! I'm in the Global Health Department with an Infectious Disease Concentration and pursuing the Complex Humanitarian Emergencies Certificate. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 with a BSA in Human Development and Family Sciences, a Business minor, and a pre-health certificate---Hook 'em! Some of my research interests include: Infectious-Airborne Diseases, Humanitarian Emergencies preparedness and response (both globally and domestically), and Non-Communicable Diseases (e.g. Cancer and Heart Disease). My role with GPHA as Co-Logistics Coordinator is to organize networking, social, and service events with student services, other RSPH organizations, and the local Georgia community. One thing I love to do with my free time since moving to Atlanta is find new places to eat and trails to walk with my dog, both in the city and its outskirts.

 

Samiat Ajibola (Co-Logistics Coordinator)

Hi, I’m Samiat Ajibola! I’m in the Behavioral, Social, Health Education Sciences department, and I am also currently pursuing my certificate in the Social Determinants of Health. I graduated from The University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology: Policy Analysis and Public Health. I have a passion for health equity and advocacy in Black populations. My specific interests are chronic disease, access to healthcare, health communication strategies, rare disease, and social epidemiology. I am currently the Co-Logistics Coordinator in the Georgia Public Health Association. In this role, I plan events and coordinate with outside stakeholders to bring in speakers and resources for Emory students. In her free time, Samiat takes part in freelance photography, reading, and weightlifting.

 

Nyjah Willis (VP of Finance)                                

Hi, My name is Nyjah Willis! I am an MPH candidate for our Epidemiology program with a certificate in Social Determinants of Health. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Sciences in 2021 at Hamline University in Minnesota. My research interests are in infectious disease epidemiology, health equity, surveillance and outbreak response. My position in GPHA is the VP of Finance. I handle everything regarding the budget and spending for all events our organization plans. In my free time I enjoy cooking and going to my kickboxing classes!

 

Kat Springer (VP of Communications)

Hi everyone! My name is Kat Springer, and I am an Environmental Health and Epidemiology student at Rollins. I was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area, and I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in evolutionary anthropology and a minor in the sociology of health and medicine in 2022 (Go Blue!). My areas of interest in public health are maternal mental health and prenatal chemical exposures, specifically PFAS, and their impact on childhood development. I have a passion for using evolution-informed approaches to chronic health conditions. In GPHA, my role is to support and highlight all the awesome work of my colleagues through social media accounts, fliers, and merchandise! In my free time, I enjoy attempting to be an amateur chef in my own kitchen and to sing in the Emory University Chorus.
