NOMAD
NOMAD is a self-sustaining, and self-governing network that was formed to facilitate research and training in the area of migration and health, with a special focus on cardio-metabolic diseases. Collaboration and member input is encouraged, from shaping the network’s goals and objectives to seeking partners for related research projects.
The impetus for NOMAD was a conference on migration and cardio-metabolic risk that was organized by the Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory’s Rollins School of Public. The conference brought together a multi-disciplinary group of participants from academia, government, and business who shared a common interest in migration and health.
Some of NOMAD’s goals are to:
- exchange relevant scientific information and ideas;
- share and develop standardized measurements;
- assist mentoring and training of junior investigators; and
- foster innovative research collaborations through the use of existing data or enhancement of existing data and populations.
The NOMAD listserv is the main vehicle for group communication. If you are interested in joining, please contact Mark Hutcheson at mhutch3@emory.edu.
