Best way to reach me:
I want to see students when they want to see me, so call or e-mail me as to when you want to see me. You can stop in and if I'm not occupied, we can talk then.
My advice to first year students:
Take courses that you will enjoy and do not overload your schedule. Your thesis topic must be in an area that is of interest to you.
What students have to say:
"Dr. Brachman brings epidemiology to life! All that theory you learn in the epi and biostats lecture classes? You might not truly understand its application until you take a class with Dr. Brachman. Besides having "been there, done that" with all things CDC, he is a warm, funny, patient instructor. Tough but fair, he always hears your side of the debate and challenges you to do better-and respects and supports you in doing so." - Sarah Raskin
"I am grateful to Dr. Brachman for the guidance he has given. He has been a great mentor. The knowledge that he has provided to me will always remain in my mind. I really appreciate the understanding that he had with my lack of the English language. His passion for teaching has taught me many things. One of which is that learning is a never-ending experience. He has also taught me to be determined and to never give up no matter how hard the getting gets." - Alfiya Bikineyeva
"Dr. Brachman is like a godfather for Muskie students. If I have any questions or concerns I know that he will do his best to help. The hardest part is to catch him in the office, because he is just toooo busy. But if you are lucky enough and this happens, you will have really good advice and support." - Yuliya Yulina
"Dr. Brachman has an intense stare, but a warm heart! He not only has years of experience to share with and teach us, but also has a strong interest in helping students to achieve their goals. He is personable, caring, and persistent, and I recommend all new IH students get to know him." - Kelly Wallace Stinson
