Selected Research Projects:

My current work is focused on four areas. First, the possible health consequences of PFOA resulting from contaminated drinking water around a chemical plant in W Virginia. PFOA is a fluorocarbon which is present in the blood of almost all Americans. It is considered a likely carcinogen in humans by EPA, but human health effects have not been established. Second, I work on neurologic diseases such as AD and PD, via the Emory Alzheimer Disease Research Center. Third, I work on the health effects of adult occupational lead exposure in a large cohort of lead exposed workers. Fourth, I have a grant to train researchers in environmental health in Chile and Peru; currenlty indoor air pollution is a focus of that research.
