Superwomen and Sacrifice: The Mind/Body Connection

Date: April 23, 2013

Location: Miller-Ward Alumni House, 815 Houston Mill Road

Leaders in health and medicine will address pressing social and emotional issues for today's multi-tasking women and the impact those issues have on family members and friends. Panelists will share insight into how "doing it all" can influence a woman's risk for cancer, higher blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, higher cholesterol, heart disease, and much more. Everyday stressors leading to self-sacrificing behavior will be identified and solutions shared.

Panelists include:

  • Deborah Bruner, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor of oncology, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing
  • Leslee Shaw, PhD, MA, professor of cardiology, Emory University School of Medicine
  • Winifred W. Thompson, PhD, MSW, research assistant professor of behavioral sciences and health education, Rollins School of Public Health and Winship Cancer Institute
  • Tanya Douglas-Holland, MD, 13MPH, Medical Liaison, Tokyo Based Pharmaceutical Company
