Accreditation

June 15, 2005

Colleagues: Today we were notified by the Council of Education for Public Health, the accreditation agency for Schools and Graduate Programs in Public Health, that the Rollins School of Public Health is fully accredited through 2012. The seven year accreditation was the maximum for Schools of Public Health and the Council's final report will come with no partially met criteria. They will not require an interim report therefore during the seven year period.

During the decision meeting this week, the Councilors were high in their praise of RSPH and the progress we had made since our last accreditation. They were especially pleased with our self-study, the preparations for the site visit, and our responsiveness to their interim recommendations. They noted that Emory administrators they met were very knowledgable about and supportive of RSPH.

Many of you deserve credit for these efforts, including faculty, administrators, students, alumni, and friends of the School. The efforts were led by Dick Levinson and the RSPH Steering Committee. We all know that the 18-month process would not have turned out so successfully without the leadership on a daily basis of Roseanne Waters. Special thanks to her.

I am proud of all of you and of the Rollins School of Public Health. Congratulations and thanks.

Jim
