We aim to improve the health of children in our region and to inform families, communities, and health care providers about environmental hazards, their effects, and practical ways to protect our children's health.

Break the Cycle of Environmental Health Disparities

Taking applications for the 2011 cycle
Deadline for submission is October 31, 2010

What is Break the Cycle?

Children who grow up in circumstances of social and economic disadvantage are at greater risk for exposure to environmental toxins and are more likely to suffer consequent adverse health and developmental outcomes. Break the Cycle supports a set of student driven research projects that creatively address the environmental challenges that the children face.

Students are invited to work with their academic mentors to submit proposal abstracts. Project research will commence before January 2011 and will be completed by the end of April 2011. Students are required to present the results of their work at a conference May 5, 2011 and to submit a paper for peer review and publication within a month following the conference.
