Policy for MEW affiliate membership
Individuals who are not currently funded through the CDC Prevention Research Centers’ Program, but have experience or interest in chronic disease self-management, epilepsy self-management, or related professional experience can apply to be an Affiliate Member of the MEW Network. Affiliate membership requires a presentation of one’s work to the Network and involvement in a specific MEW Network sponsored activity. Activities include, but are not limited to, Network-wide or site-specific research projects, and Network-wide or site-specific workgroups. Affiliate members have limited access to the on-line collaboration tool, eRoom, and are expected to regularly participate in conference calls and other activities related to their area of involvement. Affiliate members do not participate in the monthly MEW Network conference calls with CDC.
A request for affiliate membership should include a current curriculum vitae or equivalent. A brief description of interest and/or a proposed project should be described (≤ 300 words). Requests for affiliate membership are reviewed and voted on by the MEW Network core members. Affiliation ends with the SIP funding cycle during which a member is associated with the Network.
