John L. Young, Jr., DrPH, CTR
Professor, Department of Epidemiology, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia
Dr. Young has over 35 years experience in cancer surveillance and cancer registration. He possesses a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in addition to both a Master and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree. Prior to his current position, he was the Director of the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) SEER Program for 15 years. He was also the Director of the California Cancer Registry. He is a past president of NAACCR and is also a past president of the International Association of Cancer Registries. Dr. Young serves on the Boards and Advisory Committees of many national and international cancer surveillance and control agencies and organizations. He is widely published concerning cancer registration, surveillance, and control. Dr. Young is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology in Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. He is currently the Director of the NCI SEER registry in Atlanta, Georgia, and is also a Certified Tumor Registrar.
Kevin C. Ward, MPH, PhD, CTR
Deputy Director , Georgia Center for Cancer Statistics, Atlanta , Georgia
Dr. Ward has worked in cancer surveillance, registration and control for the past 10 years. He has a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and possesses both a Master's degree and Doctorate in Epidemiology from the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University. His specific areas of interest are cancer epidemiology and surveillance. Dr. Ward joined the Georgia Center for Cancer Statistics in 1997 as a data analyst and has managed the Registry database for the past several years. He currently serves as the Deputy Director for the NCI SEER Registry and the Database Administrator for the Georgia Comprehensive Cancer Registry. Dr. Ward is also a Certified Tumor Registrar and the current President of the Georgia Tumor Registrars Association.
