Theme & Aims
The EPRC focuses on community-based
cancer prevention and reducing
health disparities in the rural
communities of Southwest Georgia. The main behavioral
focus for the EPRC is primary prevention, and more specifically
reducing health risks related to tobacco,
physical activity, and nutrition; including
reduction of overweight/obesity.
Our community partners helped us develop these themes, which are founded upon public
health data as well as recommendations from
key government and health agencies.
Goals and Activities:
- Promote prevention research
- Conduct research on cancer prevention
- Deliver training and education
- Communicate new findings and our results
- Provide technical assistance for research and evaluation
- Evaluate our efforts
- Serve as a funding channel for other Emory faculty research
