Dr. Thea Jibuti

Dr. Thea Jibuti works in Georgia's National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, where she is responsible for the registration and reporting system of the TB Control Department.   She trained as a pediatrician at the Tblisi State Medical University, receiving her M.D. in 1995.  As a short term trainee of the Emory AITRP, she attended the International Course in Applied Epidemiology in October of 2000, where she learned about monitoring health status and trends, detecting and investigating health problems, and conducting research to enhance prevention.  In addition, the course discussed development and advocacy of public health policy, implementing prevention strategies, and promoting healthy behaviors.  The topics learned in the course will help her in providing leadership and training to improve GeorgiaNational TB Program.
