Science and Safety Training Courses
With the expansion of biodefense funding, new construction of Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) and Biosafety Level 4 (BSL4) laboratories, and an anticipated increase in the number of people working in these laboratories, increased biosafety training for scientists and other laboratory personnel is needed.

In collaboration with the NIH (NIAID) supported Southeast Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infections (SERCEB), the Center for Public Health Preparedness and Research (CPHPR) has developed a comprehensive education and training program in BSL2, BSL3, and BSL4 laboratory safety practices. This training is conducted in a mock BSL3/4 laboratory at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
